Funny how time changes things so much. Funny how time flies so fast. Funny how we always look back and go, "Now, where did all that time go to?"
Two years ago I got my PSLE score. Now, two years later, I watch my younger sibling do the same and I wonder how two years - twenty four months, seven hundred and thirty days, seventeen thousand five hundred and twenty hours, a million and fifty one thousand and two hundred minutes - managed to pass so fast. Secondary one felt like a mere day ago. To think that I'm already concluding my episode of lower secondary life. I feel so old. D;
As I've often said I never once dreamt I'd be here. Right here right now with fourteen years and ten months of memories and experiences draped across my shoulders. There are so, so many things I should have done, but there's even more I shouldn't have.
Sometimes it's just weird. I think the concept of time isn't something the average human mind can fully grasp, I think it's one of those mysteries of life that even science cannot provide a satisfactory answer to.
Before I know it I'll be graduating. I'll be one of those alumnis who visit the compounds every now and then. I'll be walking the same halls the same corridors passing the same classrooms as a different person with a different school a different way of life a different group of friends a different uniform, and I probably won't recognise anything anymore. I'll be going out to work. I'll be getting my first ever paycheck and maybe I won't even remember the school anymore. I'll be getting married (ok this may not come to pass but whatever lets assume it does) I'll be having children, my children will be having grandchildren and then one day I'll leave. Leave everything behind and head for someplace I'll never know in this lifetime.
I think it's just plain scary. There one moment and gone the next. Youthful one day and ancient the next.
I never really liked mystery novels wreathed in suspense. I don't like how uncertainty clouds your vision so you can only see the ground you're standing on and how far you've gone, but nothing more. A shadowy, unpredictable future. You could take a step forward and plunge off the edge of a cliff into the unknown. Then again I suppose living knowing what'll happen to you and how you'll be like later on will take the fun out of everything.
But sometimes it's just so tiring being kept on tenterhooks all the time.
